Govt allows operating Nepali schools abroad
The government has decided to permit the operation of schools offering national curriculum abroad if Nepali diaspora seeks permission fulfilling all the legal provisions of the concerned countries.
The Cabinet in the last week of January decided to grant permission up to grade 10 following the request from Non-Resident Nepalis to clear the legal hurdles in setting up Nepali schools abroad. According Bishwo Prakash Pandit, secretary at the Ministry of Education, the government opened the doors after the NRN from Japan sought permission. Pandit said with the significant increase in Nepali diaspora, the aspiration to teach their children in Nepali curriculum is increasing. He said the examination in such schools will be in accordance to the criteria set by the Curriculum Development Centre.
