Govt disburses Rs 10 m for literacy in Ilam
Ilam: The government has allocated a budget of Rs 10 million in Ilam district this year to turn 15,000 people to literate.
The government is putting in place the literacy campaign in 14 VDCs in the current fiscal year. The budget is allocated for the fiscal year to contribute to meet the national goal of eliminating illiteracy from Nepal by 2015, said the District Education Office, Ilam.
The Community Education Center will operate literacy campaign in the district, the office informed.
Some 7,400 people were made literate after the intervention of literacy classes spending Rs 5.7 million in the previous fiscal.
The illiterate are generally above 15 years of age among which number of women is high, reveals the statistics.
