Grade VI textbooks yet to be sent for printing
Kathmandu: The Curriculum Development Centre, the sole government body that prepares school curriculum, is yet to prepare Camera-Ready-Copy, the final draft of textbooks to be sent to press for printing, of Grade VI textbooks.
Usually, CDC prepares the CRC of textbooks by the end of mid-August and sends it to the press.
According to CDC, the CRC of Grade VI textbooks were not prepared due to delay in feedback collection of the new course which is being taught in 100 schools in various 15 districts outside the Kathmandu Valley and three districts in Kathmandu as one unit.
After the launch of School Sector Reform Plan, the Ministry of Education had envisioned to incorporate soft skill, a kind of technical and vocational education in school curriculum to develop students’ ability to think critically and act practically.
Ganesh Prasad Bhattarai , deputy director, CDC said, “We had piloted soft skills in the curriculum of Grade VI in 100 schools across the country to find out its outcome.”
He stated that they were all set to send teams of CDC representatives to get the feedback from the schools where the ‘soft skill education’ was piloted.
“Our team would start collecting feedback from school teachers and students by interacting with them within few days,” he said adding, “We would be preparing the report and modifying the curriculum as suggested by them.”
He informed that by mid-December, they would be preparing CRC of Grade VI to send it to press for printing.
He added that they had already send the CRC of other grades.
