Grand International Conference on 'Microbial Technology for Better Future' held in DAV
D.A.V. College, Dhobighat Lalitpur, partnering with Microbiologist Society of India organized an International conference on the topic, ‘Microbial Technology for Better Tomorrow’ on May 11 and 12 in D.A.V. College, Dhobighat, Lalitpur.
The conference was supported by University Grant Commission (UGC) of Nepal.
As per the press release issued by the organizing committee, 'The international conference brought together researchers, managers, policy makers and other groups of scientific community who were active in the related areas and exchanged information through the presentation and discussion of papers dealing with a wide variety of related topics'.
The conference sufficiently helped in exploring clinical microbiology, bio resources and environment, marine microbial technology, Biological interaction, Microbial pollution, Microbial diversity, Agriculture biotechnology, Bio fertilizer, Biopesticides, Vermicomposting, Aquatic biology, Food Microbiology, post-harvest, Technology, Environmental Microbiology, Biological waste Treatment, Nano-Biotechnology, Biosensor, Bio remediation, Bioleaching, SCP, Probiotics, Biobleaching, Plant Pathology, Biostatics, Bioenergy, Genetic Engineering and other different relevant topics related with microbiology.
Addressing the gathering of microbiology community, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission from the Embassy of India expected that the microbiology conference transform power to solve the problems in agriculture, land, environment and health sectors.
DAV Chairman,Mr. Anil Kedia appreciated for all the individual effort in making the event grand success in short period of time. He also said both oral and poster presentations could possibly be helpful to control pollutions and over use of pesticides, insecticides and chemicals which has hampered human health than ever. According to Kedia, 'the microbiology scholars still face the challenges to make public understand the facts stated through the conference'.
From Karnali Academy of Health Science, Dr. Rajendra Raj Wagle talked about the application of microbial technology presented in the conference could address in medical field around the country.
Dr. Arbind Deshmuk, President of Microbiologist Society, India appreciated the Nepalese students' passion in the microbiology research. In the conference, Prof. Dr. Tika Bahadur Karrki was felicitated with Life Time Devotion Award in the Field of Microbiology along with Scroll of Honour.
The speakers from different countries delivered their invited talk including virtual mode too. Around 40 poster presentations were made in the college ground and 16 oral presentations were made in the auditorium. The scholars went through the discussions with the oral presentation.
DAV College Programme Co-ordinator, Mr. Shashi Bhushan Chaturwedi to the news said 'the conference was helpful to bring scientific solutions of all the burning issues associated with the daily life'.
Participants were from all over Nepal and India. From Nepal only, Model Multiple College, Janakpur, Balkumari College, Chitwan, Balkumari College , Pokhara, Trichandra College,Kathmandu, Nist College, St. Xavier's College, Golden Gate College and DAV College participated in the programme. Similarly, representatives from differentgovernmental research organization such as NAST, NARC, Foreign Sic Department and Central Departments also attended the conference.Three best oral presentations were awardedas the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Likewise, 3 best posters were also awarded during the conference by the organizing committee.
The international conference was successfully guided by Mr. Pradeep Kumar Shah (Associate professor) as a mentor and the programme was well co-ordinated by a group of active students of Microbiology Department of DAV College lead by Ms. Suva B.C.( Conference coordinator) and Ms. Kritika Mishra. This conference has broadened the horizon of microbiology among all.
