Higher Education fair draws visitors
The second day of the four-day long Republica 9th Higher Education and Career Fair 2011 saw an encouraging footfall.
Organized by Direction Nepal, the fair will continue till June 26 at Exhibition Hall, Brikutimandap.Though students of plus two and Bachelors levels also participated in the fair, the number of SLC graduates was remarkable.
“We are satisfied with the number of students visiting us. Mostly, we could see fresh SLC graduates attending the exhibition,” said Rabin Shrestha, Chief Operation Director, Institute of Banking and Management Studies (IBM).
“These types of exhibitions are not only beneficial for students but also gives us the opportunity to meet and interact with the representatives of other colleges and share our ideas,” added Shrestha.
The exhibition featuring 80 finest academic institutions with 123 stalls has provided a platform for students to learn about different colleges all under one roof.
The Managing Director (MD) of Softwarica College of IT & E-commerce, Bigyan Shrestha shared that education fairs make it extremely simple for educational institutes and colleges to meet, interact and engage with prospective students and their parents.
The educational fair has been beneficial for the students to collect relevant information from representatives of different participating institutions.
Divya Khadka, 22, student who was at the fair said, “The education fair provides us information regarding the courses and universities that we are interested in. Moreover, since it is organized under the same roof, we also get to compare different courses offered by different institutions.”
Ravi Phuyal, Managing Director (MD) of Islington College said that the participation of the students at the fair so far has been average but has been productive.
He informed that Islington College is the only college in Nepal that provides Bachelors degree in Computer Networking and IT Security and Multimedia Technologies.
“We are hopeful to see more students in our stall,” he added.
“The number of students participating in the fair is not as high as we expected. However, we are satisfied to have potential students at our stall,” said Sailesh KC one of the representatives at the fair. KC added that there has been a huge flow of SLC appeared students in their stall who showed interest in the courses that their college
provides.
Talking about the fair another visitor Sunil Aryal, 22 said, “As I have just finished my BBS, I am here seeking the best college for my MBA.”
He further said that the fair also provided him the information about the Indian Board and other Universities. “So, I am really glad that I participated.”
He said that education fairs are a good venue for students and parents to find out more about colleges and universities which they would otherwise not know about.
