HSEB Grade 12 exams begin in 68 districts today
The Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) has completed all preparations for the grade 12 exams beginning Wednesday in various 68 districts.
Examination schedule for the remaining seven districts, which have been badly affected by the earthquake would be issued soon, said the Office of the Controller of Examination.
Organizing a press conference, Exam Controller Santosh Aryal said the exam would be held on the ground floor of exam center buildings keeping in view the safety of examinees. Students have expressed fear to take exams in multi-story buildings as aftershocks of the Gorkha earthquake continue to be felt.
"We assure students that their safety will not be compromised," said Aryal.
To respond to possible medical emergency at the exam centre, three mobile medical teams have been deployed at each exam center.
The grade 12 exams had been postponed twice following the quake. A total 719,463 students are expected to appear in grade 11 and 12 examinations this year. Grade 11 exam has been scheduled for June 16 onwards.
Number of girl students to take exam is higher this time with 364,451 female examinees expected to appear in the examinations against 355,012 boy students.
A total of 846 exam centers have been set up in 68 districts with 76 exam centers for seven districts --Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Nuwakot, Dhading, Dolakha, Rasuwa and Gorkha-worst affected by the quake. Of the total examinees expected to take the grade 12 exams, 46,719 students are from these districts. The superintendents have been trained to deal with the situation in case of strong tremor during the examinations. Likewise, they have also received psychological counseling, said Aryal.
Students can call toll free number 1610016639002 for any query related to exam, according to the HSEB.
