HSEB to monitor Plus Two colleges
A 13-member committee formed by Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) to monitor implementation of code of conduct today formed two sub-committees to look into two different issues.
The first sub-committee is a three-member committee, formed to look into the advertisement trend in the media. The sub-committee will analyse the trend of advertisements that plus two colleges provide to the media and come up with a complete database of advertisement flow.
The sub-committee includes Ishwor Raj Dhakal, president of the Education Journalists’ Network, Dambar Kumar Batas, chief of the HSEB’s monitoring section and Puskal, a technical assistant. The committee will have to submit its report by Sunday.
Another four-member sub-committee has been formed to look into the demands of students unions. The sub-committee includes Suprabhat Bhandari, president of the Guardians’ Association Nepal, Raja Ram Khakurel, under-secretary at the Department of Education, Chiranjibi Bhandari, under-secretary at the HSEB and Babu Ram Pokharel, president of the Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation, Nepal.
Bhandari said, “A number of student unions aligned to various political parties had submitted memorandums detailing their demands at different times, which have not been looked into yet.” He added, “The committee will go through the demands and recommend HSEB to address genuine demands at the earliest.”
The committee had summoned Jung Bahadur Aryal, chief of HSEB’s Kathmandu Office, to submit detailed information about plus two colleges that have been flouting the HSEB Code of Conduct. But Aryal failed to provide complete information today citing time constraints.
Kathmandu office has been directed to provide information that the committee has sought by Friday. Gaushala-based Pyramid International has renamed itself as Gurukul without informing HSEB. The committee today asked the Affiliation Division to provide detailed information about Gurukul within a few days. The committee is scheduled to hold another meeting on Sunday to analyse the findings of the sub-committees.
