HSEB to scrap licences of 72 Plus Two colleges
BHAKTAPUR: The Higher Secondary Education Board said on Monday it would scrap the licences of 72 higher secondary schools/ Plus Two colleges for failing to comply with the terms and conditions laid down by the apex body that regulates higher secondary education in the country.HSEB Vice Chairman Chaitanya Sharma said that the 72 higher secondary schools/ Plus Two colleges in question were found to have stopped admission and academic activities for the last three consecutive years. Their affiliation will considered scrapped effective July 17, Mishra said.
According to Sharma, 29 higher secondary schools/Plus Two colleges from the Kathmandu Valley will face action. Seventeen higher secondary schools/ Plus Two colleges of Kathmandu and 10 of Lalitpur will lose their licences from July 17. Similarly, affiliations of six higher secondary schools/Plus Two colleges in Morang, three in Jhapa, four each in Makawanpur and Chitwan and two each in Dhanusha, Bhaktapur, Nawalparasi and Tanahun will be scrapped by the HSEB. The HSEB has also asked the concerned colleges not to admit students in Grade 11. Issuing a notice today, the HSEB has also asked the colleges in question to submit clarifications if any of them is not satisfied with the decision. A total of 3,658 higher secondary schools/ Plus Two colleges across the country are affiliated to the HSEB.
