Japanese aid for school
Kavre:Much to the relief of a primary school at Deubhumi Baluwa VDC-8 in Kavre district, a Japanese organisation has built it a building.
The Radhakrishna Primary School had to rent a house in the locality to run classes. “We have faced difficulties in instruction in the lack of our own building. We approached many authorities for help to build a building but in vain,” said Padam Narayan Timilsina, a villager.
“My long-standing wish to see a school building was fulfilled today,” said the 74-year-old, who came here to attend a programme where former Japanese ambassador to Nepal Kenji Kaminaga handed over the building to the community on Wednesday.
The organisation, at the initiative of a local NGO, built the one-storey earthquake-proof building with six classrooms.
Built at the cost of around Rs 5 million including Rs 330,000 from the Village Development Committee, Rs 122,000 as donation from villagers and labour contribution worth Rs 213,000, the building is equipped with drinking water facility, toilets and compound wall. “Now children will get education without difficulties,” School Management Committee member Sitaram Dahal said.
Kaminaga said the aid was part of his country’s plan of facilitating the education system in developing countries.
