Kantipur Hissan Edu-Fair draws over 200k visitors
The Kantipur Hissan Edu-Fair 2014 jointly organised by Kantipur Media Group and Higher Secondary School Association Nepal (Hissan) saw an overwhelming participation of students and guardians this year. Organisers said that over 225,000 visitors observed the four-day fair that concluded on Sunday.
About 25,000 visitors had showed up on the inaugural day itself and the tally doubled the next-day.
According to the organisers, majority of the visitors were students who had appeared in the School Leaving Certificate this year while a significant portion were students awaiting Grade 12 results. The organisers said that around 200,000 people had participated in the first edition of education fair last year.
“We are highly excited by the unprecedented footfall during the fair,” said Ramesh Kumar Silwal vice-chairman of Hissan and the fair coordinator.
Most of the students who visited the expo were clearly interested about science and management courses in the “Plus Two” or Higher Secondary Education level including technical and management courses such as Engineering, Nursing, Paramedics, BBA, Hotel Management and Travel and Tourism in the bachelor’s level. Over 100 domestic colleges showcased their services and products from 111 stalls during the exhibition.
The exhibition to promote national educational institutes offered students
various options available in line with their needs and ambitions.
The fair organised with the slogan “Excellent Education in Nepal” aimed at imparting the message that domestic institutions are competent enough to provide international-level degrees.
The organisers have announced 100 full and partial scholarships for those students selected from a lucky draw. The names will be announced later.
