Kathmandu University Celebrates 22nd Annual Day
Kathmandu University organized a special program on September 25 to mark its 22nd Annual Day. The program was held in the CV Raman Hall of the principal campus.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, the Vice Chancellor, recalled the glorious history of the University, especially the fact that on September 25, 1991, the first meeting of the country’s democratic parliament had passed a bill for the establishment of Kathmandu University.
The Vice Chancellor stressed that the clear mission and vision have so far ensured the University’s upward growth to become a leading higher academic institution in the country, and that the University must move ahead with the teaching cum research model for self-sustenance of each its programs. He reiterated KU’s commitment to quality education and emphasized the need for expanding research and academic programs through constituent and affiliated colleges across the country.
A group of faculties, staffs and students organized a cultural program to mark the occasion. They presented songs representing different periods, genres and themes. Nepali all-time hit numbers like Yo Karmabhumiko Anganma, Sarangiko Tarle Mero, Ma Mauntama Aljhiraheko, Mayaluko Chheuma Janda, Jahan Chhan Budhhaka Ankha, Phoollai Sodhen, Lolayeka Ti Thula¸Parelima Aai Basechha were some of the special performances of the graceful evening. The program was concluded with the group performance of John Lennon’s well-known number Imagine.
Prof. Dr. Ramesh Maskey, Mr. Prachanda Man Pradhan and Mr. Bibhu R. Tuladhar had special contribution in selection and arrangement of the songs. The program was hosted by Mr. Hem Raj Kafle.
Among the dignitaries to grace the occasion were Prof. Dr. Bhala Thapa, the Registrar, Prof. Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma, Founder Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sitaram Adhikari, Founder Registrar, and Mr. Bel Prasad Shrestha, Member of the Board of Trustees. The Deans and Associate Deans, Directors, Heads and Coordinators, faculties and staffs of different Schools attended the program.
