KU dean Wagle resigns
Expressing his dissatisfaction over the government’s decision to appoint Suresh Raj Sharma as the Vice-chancellor of Kathmandu University for the sixth time, Mana Prasad Wagle, dean at the School of Education in the university, resigned from the post on Thursday. Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, as the ex-officio chancellor of KU, on January 2 appointed Sharma for the sixth term. “My resignation is a protest against the trend of continuing with the same person for years,” said Wagle. “Such a practice hampers institutional growth.” Sharma was displeased with Wagle at the latter’s commenting publicly on his new tenure. Wagle is a well-known educationist.
