KU holds 20th convocation for medical students
KAVRE: The Kathmandu University (KU) marked the first phase of its 20th convocation ceremony in Kavre on Saturday.
Ex-officio Chancellor of the University, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala conferred the graduation certificates on 1,037 Medical Science students.
Post-graduate, MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing students were conferred the graduation certificates at the function.
Jyoti Bidhan of Biratnagar-based Nobel Medical College was awarded with the Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal. She had scored 84.96 per cent in MBBS examinations of the University.
KU said as many as 8,343 students completed various Medical Science courses from the University since its establishment. Of them, around 18 per cent are foreigners, KU added.
Vice-Chancellor Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha said students were also graduated in the MD Biochemistry course this year for the first time in University history.
Professor Doctor Wilhelm Firbas from Medical University of Vienna, Austria had delivered a commencement speech at the function.
