Lalitpur academic institutions remain closed today
Lalitpur: All the academic institutions in Lalitpur district remained closed on Sunday owing to the protests by All Nepal Teachers' Organisation and ANNISU (Revolutionary) close to the CPN-Maoist.
The Association has accused the DAV Sushil Kedia Bishwa Bharati Higher Secondary School of following Indian textbooks and expelling three teachers with no cause.
President of the Guardians' Association Nepal Suprabhat Bhandari said although the association was urged not to include the school closure programme as part of the protest, the call fell on deaf ears.
The announcement of the educational strike in Lalitpur has been a violation of the government proclamation of the 'School as a Zone of Peace' campaign.
According to District Education Officer of Lalitpur , Mankaji Shrestha, various rounds of talks between the two sides remained fruitless. Around 600 government and private academic institutions in Lalitpur are in operation in Lalitpur.
