Lalitpur schools shut down
Though schools have been declared peace zone, the sister organisations of CPN-Maoist on Wednesday shut down all private and public schools in Lalitpur.
Once again the Jawalakhel based- DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati Higher Secondary School is on the firing line for the protest.
It has been learnt that the schools are shut following a dispute between the principal and a teacher of the DAV school.
The principal allegedly manhandled the teacher over a minor dispute in the school premises.
“I got a call from the school about today’s closure when my kids were all dressed up and were about to leave,” a parent told THT Online. “The school authority just said that it is an educational shut down due to a decision made by some sister organisations of a political party”
On February 10, All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), the students' wing, and All Nepal Teachers Organisation, the teacher’s wing of the CPN-Maoist, shut down around 600 schools in the district.
The shutdown about five months ago was to protest the use of Indian curriculum and textbooks in the schools and demanding reinstatement of three teachers sacked from DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati Higher Secondary School, Jawalakhel.
