Loadshedding hours reduced in view of SLC exams- New Loadshedding Schedule 2 Chaitra 2071/16 March 2015
Considering the upcoming school leaving certificate (SLC) examination, which is to begin from March 19, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided to cut load shedding by two hours from Monday.
“Load-shedding hours will be limited to nine hours per day from the existing 11 hours per day,” said a high-level official at the Load Dispatch Centre of NEA.
NEA also issued a public notice today and said that it will try to reduce blackouts by an additional one hour, if possible. NEA has also sought support from consumers in reducing load-shedding hours and urged for high power consuming equipment not to be used in the evenings.

If consumers support NEA in this regard, it might be able to supply power for additional hours, the notice further says.
NEA has targeted to limit the load shedding to 65 hours in a week from the existing 77 hours, as per the Load Dispatch Centre. NEA has not made any changes to the electricity supply to industrial customers. NEA further said that it would increase the load shedding hours — from one to six more hours — in the feeders that have high electricity leakages. Twenty-five per cent of the total installed capacity is lost due to leakage.
