Local schools provided financial assistance
Chitwan: Many schools within the Chitwan district have received generous financial assistance from the Udayapur Community Forest.
The Community Forest has donated over Rs 330,000 that will go towards building much needed infrastructure within schools, establishing scholarship programmes and increasing wages to private quota’s teachers.
Chairman of the group Kesav Lama confirmed the Community Forest provided Rs 120,000 to Shaktikhor based Chaturmukhi Higher Secondary School and Rs 30,000 each to Prithivi Higher Secondary School, Jutpani, Red Cross Gram Lower Secondary School, Pithuwa Lower Secondary School and Janasakti Lower Secondary School, Shaktikhor.
According to Shishir Singhkhada, Secretary of the Forest Office, the scholarship amount of Rs 1,000 has been awarded to 30 intelligent students from 15 schools situated in the Community Forest area this year. The Forest Office had also provided Rs 700,000 grant-assistance to education sector last year.
In Nawalparasi, local residents and political parties stated a demonstration in front of the Area Administration Office in Nawalparasi district demanding that Kawaswoti be declared a municipality.
The government announced Sunwal and Gaidakot as municipalities, but exclusion of Kawaswoti has riled local people and leaders. The demonstration was staged to press the authorities concern to declare Kawaswoti, considered as a mini headquarters of the district, a municipality. Kawaswoti has survey, forest, area administration, area police, telecommunication, electricity and drinking water offices and education up to Bachelor’s Degree is available.
Under the call of Town Development Committee, the agitation to declare Kawaswoti a municipality was launched.
