Lumbini Buddhist University proposes new 14 programmes
The Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) plans to run 14 new educational programmes (departments).
The draft academic master plan for the purpose was prepared after studying the programmes run by 52 Buddhist and non-Buddhist universities across the globe.
The draft committee chair and Vice-Chancellor at the University Prof Dr Naresh Man Bajracharya said that the proposed departments are: Theravada, Mahayana, Bajrayana, Buddhist History, Buddhist Arts-Sculpture, Himalayan Buddhism, the Nepal Mandala Buddhist Religion, Buddhist Tradition in Asia and Western Countries, Buddhist Archaeology, Museumology, Buddhism and Social Work, Engaged Buddhism, Buddhist Therapeutic System and other modern disciplines.
The university has kept the research and training related programmes in its utmost priority.
The draft committee comprises registrar Dr Pitambar Lal Yadav, Dean Bhadra Ratna Bajracharya, Dr Surendra Man Bajracharya, Dr Gautam Bir Bajracharya, reader Urmila Tamrakar and lecturer Phanindra Kumar Neupane.
