Mark Zuckerberg thanks Facebook community for Nepal earthquake support
Facebook tycoon Mark Zuckerberg has thanked the members of Facebook community for supporting those affected by the recent devastating earthquakes in Nepal.
“Earlier this year, the Facebook community rallied and donated more than $15 million to bring relief and support to the people of Nepal after the earthquake struck,” Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook timeline.
“Here’s a short video showing how your support is helping to rebuild the country. To all of you who donated — thank you for making a difference,” he added. The video is 2:55-minute long.
Apart from the amount collected through Facebook, Zuckerberg donated additional US$2 million for the relief and reconstruction efforts in Nepal.
The short video features the aftermath of April 25 earthquake and the work conducted by International Medical Corps in Gorkha district with international support.

Facebook had introduced ‘Donate’ button on its website allowing the users to donate for the cause.
Soon after the earthquake hit Nepal on April 25, Facebook had introduced ‘Safety Check’ feature for people to mark themselves safe, assuring their friends and family across the world of their safety.
About 9,000 people were killed in the April 25 earthquake and its aftershocks including that of May 12.
