Masters' students boycott economics paper
Kathmandu: Tribhuvan University’s first year Masters’ students in Saraswoti Multiple College, Sorhakhutte, and Navodit College in Samakhusi today boycotted Economics examination saying that the questions were out of syllabus.
Rajya Laxmi Khadka, campus chief at Saraswoti Multiple College, said that as the invigilators distributed the question papers, students began to tear it down and started shouting.
“They said the questions were out of syllabus, therefore they were not going to give the exam,” she said. “Though we tried to persuade them, they did not listen to us.” She said around 532 students from Kirtipur Campus attended the exam in Saraswoti campus today.
Students in Navodit College also boycotted the exam after the students of Saraswoti College began shouting outside the campus.
Krishna Bilash Adhikari, coordinator, Navodit College, said, “The examinees were complaining that the questions were out of syllabus, but when they heard students of Saraswoti campus shouting outside, most of them left the exam hall.”
He said out of 270 students from Patan Multiple Campus, Padma Kanya Campus and Golden Gate Campus, only 40 attended the examination.
Daya Man Karmacharya, examination controller, Office of the Controller of Examinations, said they would investigate whether the questions were out of syllabus or not. He said a decision on rescheduling the exam for those who left the exam hall will be taken later.
