Medical students halt Nobel Medical College OPD
Biratnagar:Agitating students of Nobel Medical College halted the Outpatient Department (OPD) of the hospital for the second day on Tuesday in protest against their failure to appear in the Medical Council licensing exam due to the college's negligence.
The agitating medical students staged sit-in at the entrance of the OPD today demanding justice from the college administration. The hospital services have been affected due to the protest. The students had padlocked the college administration office a week ago. They have not removed the padlock.
Earlier in the day, the students' attempt to padlock the main entrance of OPD was thwarted by security personnel. The students had padlocked the main entrance of the OPD until mid-day on Monday.
The students, who went for talks facilitated by local administration, became agitated as some office bearers of the college management did not show up for the talks.
Sixty-one students who passed MBBS were barred from appearing in Medical Council licensing exam after the college did not submit their exam forms. The college administration has admitted its failure to submit the forms in time.
Meanwhile, the students have accused the college administration of mobilising goons to issue threats to them. "The college has been threatening us instead of fulfilling our demands," said the students, adding that hooliganism should be ended in the college. "Police personnel have deployed in the college premises in view of possible tension."
