Mid-Western University to start next year
Surkhet: After a long hiatus, Mid-Western University in Birendranagar has finally announced it will start classes from next year.
The university will run Bachelors and Masters level programs in four different faculties.
The university had prepared its course of study and faculty programs a few years back but its operation was halted in the integration process of three campuses. Hope had turned into certainty, after Birendranagar Multiple Campus, which is among the three campuses, received authorized letter for integration with Mid-Western University on Friday.
"Now we won´t have any problem in opening the university," said Pitambar Dhakal Dean of the university. "Admission forms will be collected until November 20 which will be followed by entrance examinations."
Administration of the university said they will be enrolling students in four faculties which are Humanities and Social Science, Science and Technology, Management and Educational Science. Fixed quotas will be allocated for MBA level students of Management faculties and Science and Technology.
"Since we will have plenty of students it won´t be possible for us take in all of them," said Dhakla explaining the proposed quota system. He said forty quotas will be allocated in total.
Meanwhile, two other campuses-Tribhuwan University (TU) affiliated Tribhuwan University and community based Public Science Campus-are still in integration process. Both campuses should receive full affirmation from TU to be included under Mid-Western University board.
