Monitoring of nursing colleges soon: CTEVT
BHAKTAPUR: The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training today said it would monitor nursing colleges that have been facing allegations of charging tuition fee higher than what has been fixed by the CTEVT.
According to the CTEVT, monitoring will begin within a week.
Ramhari Lamichhane, member secretary, CTEVT, said a team from the CTEVT will be monitoring those nursing colleges against which complaints have been lodged. “We have received complaints that some colleges inside the Kathmandu Valley and some outside the Valley are charging up to Rs 500,000 from a student, which is much higher than the fee fixed by a high level committee,” he said.
A high-level Fee Fixation and Monitoring Committee had earlier fixed Rs 396,000 for nursing in proficiency certificate level, Rs 281,656 for diploma in pharmacy programme and Rs 346,923 for general medicine programme under the proficiency certificate level.
Lalitpur-based Hope Nursing College, Nightingale Nursing College and Green Tara Nursing Campus, Kathmandu-based Kathmandu Institute of Science and Technology Nursing College, Chitwan-based Lifetime College are some of the colleges that are facing charges of charging more fee that has been prescribed. Lamichhane said if colleges were found violating the fee ceiling, they will be asked to return the extra amount collected from the students. “If any college fails to return the extra amount, action will be taken against them as per law,” he added.
