Motor Rally 2014 to promote literacy
Having successfully organized Motor Rally in 2005 to promote anti-tobacco and anti-smoking awareness, Rotary Club of Bagmati is once again prepared to conduct similar Motor Rally awareness program, but this time with a different theme: Literacy in Nepal.
Scheduled to take place on January 2, 2014, the Motor Rally will begin from Tundikhel, Kathmandu and end at Water Front Resort, Pokhara.
“Compared to the Motor Rally organized in 2005, the Motor Rally of 2014 would be more challenging as the distance traveled would be approximately 200 km,” mentioned Rajendra Kayastha, the President of Rotaract Club of Bagmati.
As the theme suggests, the rally will generate awareness on the need of cent percent literacy in Nepal. To make the event more effective, the organizers have designed a competition where the participants will also be judged on the basis of creativity they put in for decorating their cars with artworks based on the theme of literacy.
Besides promoting literacy, the program is also aimed at encouraging safe driving, as the winner of the competition will not only depend on the speed at which s/he drives, but other technical aspects as well.
The participating fee for each vehicle is Rs 11,999, which also covers hotel stay cost in Pokhara. Each vehicle would require two people: one driver and one navigator. The winner and the first runner-up will be awarded with a two-way air ticket on Kathmandu-Sydney route.
