Much-awaited TSC exams on May 23-25
The Teachers Service Commission today said it has completed all preparations for the much-awaited TSC examination scheduled for May 23-25. “We have already sent question papers and answer sheets to respective districts and allocated human resources for the examination,” TSC officials said.
Speaking at a press meet organised by Education Journalists Network today, Khagendra Nepal, Chief Administrator, TSC, said they are very excited about the examination as it had been 17 years since TSC opened vacancies for permanent teachers through open competition.
The commission has received 61,620 applications (for 2,286 positions) in secondary level, 168,184 applications (for 2,793 positions) in lower secondary level, and 250,954 applications (for 7,980 positions).
Examinations for the secondary, lower secondary and primary level teachers are slated on May 23, 24 and 25 respectively. The three-hour exam will start at 2:00pm.
Nepal said they had re-scheduled the examination timetable from 8.00am to 11.00am as Grade XI examinations coincided with TSC exams. “There will be 1,847 exam centres for 480,758 applicants and as many as 250 examinees will be deployed in each centre,” he added.
Kathmandu District has 82 exam centres, the highest, for 27,679 examinees, while, Manang has the lowest number of exam centres, only three, for 329 examinees.
A total of 1,837 exam superintendents, 3,694 assistant superintendents, 24,038 invigilators, 7,388 assistants and 19,470 security personnel will be deployed for the three-day long exam.
TSC said it would hire gazetted government section officers, officers working in corporations and non-gazetted first class officers as superintendents, assistant superintendents and invigilators and double coding system will be incorporated for checking answer sheets.
Narayan Bhattarai, Under Secretary, TSC, said any examinee found engaged in indecent activities will be expelled from the examination and government officers could face departmental action, up to six months jail sentence and a fine of Rs 100,000, if found involved in unfair practices. The exams result will be out by mid-November, he added.
