New IOM dean defends his appointment
Newly-appointed IoM dean, Dr Shashi Sharma, has defended his appointment and said he will not quit at any cost.“I am not resigning as I am capable enough. Politics played no role in my appointment,” Dr Sharma said at a press meet today, countering Dr KC’s allegations.
“I do not know why Dr Prakash Sayami resigned as IOM dean, though I have heard that he quit due to political and administrative pressure,” Dr Sharma said.
“I have not agreed to grant affiliation to any (medical) college till date,” he maintained.
He further clarified that the resignation of TU vice-chancellor, rector and registrar, which Dr KC has demanded, is beyond the jurisdiction of the IOM dean. Dr Sharma said he will cooperative with the ongoing investigation into charges of irregularities that the TU officials have been facing.
Outlining his plans, Dr Sharma said he will formulate a master plan within the next three months for upgradation of the TUTH to the University of Health Sciences. He said such a university will play a crucial role in the establishment of more medical colleges in remote districts. Dr Sharma argued that his appointment is based on seniority and capability.
