Pabson gears up for its 12th convention
The 12th general convention of Private and Boarding Schools Organisation-Nepal (Pabson) is set to kick off in the Capital from Thursday.
The assembly of the umbrella organisation of private schools in the country, which will take place at Little Angels School in Lalitpur, will elect 70-member central committee with 19 office-bearers. Laksya Bahadur KC and TR Dhakal have announced their candidacy for the presidential election.
From this year on, PABSON has decided to increase the term of its central committee by one more year to three years.
Pabson President Baburam Pokhrel said beside formulating the strategies for the next three years, the convention will also have discussion on the formation of a separate education Act for private schools and declaring schools a zone of peace.
Stating that the government has not recognised the contribution of private education sector, he said the main strategy of Pabson will be to establish its contribution legally. Over 1,600 representatives from around 5,000 member schools from 70 districts across the country are expected to participate.
