Private and Boarding School’s Organisation, Nepal today said they would not follow the work procedure and criteria set by the government for fixing school fee.

Organising a press meet here today, PABSON said many changes were made to the final draft of work procedure prepared by the technical committee.

The Department of Education had formed a technical committee under the coordination of its director to prepare work procedure for fixing school fee in a scientific way.

The committee also had representatives from PABSON.

Lachhe Bahadur KC, president, PABSON, said the meeting of the national council of the organisation held in Amaltari of Nawalparasi has taken strong exception to the new work procedure.

“The government has cheated us by not addressing our issues and bringing the work procedure without consulting us,” he said, adding that the government would have to nationalise all private schools and provide them compensation if the work procedure was implemented forcibly.

DK Dhungana, general secretary, PABSON, warned of protests if the government tried to forcibly implement the work procedure. “We are ready to support the government but the government should also create investment-friendly environment for the private sector,” he said.

The work procedure requires schools to take consent of two-thirds of parents while fixing fee and provide salary and facilities to teachers on par with government schools.

PABSON and NPABSAN had recently submitted a 13-point memorandum to Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel demanding amendment to the work procedure.
