Pokhara University holds 10th convocation ceremony
Pokhara: The Tenth Convocation Ceremony of Pokhara University was held today at Lekhnath Municipality of Kaski district’s Khudi-based university’s headquarters.
A total of 1‚737 students received graduation certificates from the university’s Co-chancellor and Education Minister Dinanath Sh-arma during the ceremony. The Co-chancellor awarded the winners with gold medal‚ Laxmi Vidhya Pad-ak‚ Chancellor’s medal and Vice-chancellor’s medal during the ceremony.
Ramesh Upreti was awarded gold medal‚ Rajnesh Thapa won Laxmi Vidhya Padak‚ Shiva Raj Pokharel and Rajesh Thapa won Chancellor’s medals. Similarly Amrit Poudel and Sajal Sthapit won Vice-chancellor’s medals. The graduated students are from bachelors‚ masters and MPhil levels.
Speaking at the convocation ceremony‚ Chief Guest Professor Alojzy Z Nowak‚ Vice-Rector at the University of Warsaw‚ Poland‚ said‚ “The honoured students have a great responsibility towards the country’s overall development.” Students are the backbone of any country’s progress‚ and they should do everything possible to reach the levels of excellence. He suggested the students not to feel that they become proficient after getting degrees‚ adding‚ the students must be strive to enhance skills that would be helpful to the next generation as well.
Co-chancellor and Minister Sharma‚ on his part‚ said‚ “Education in the university is in the transitional phase much as the country’s politics.” He warned not to make the university a place to fulfill one’s political ambition. He urged the students to resist from immoral activities like vandalism and leaking question papers in the academic place. The minister said‚ the nation expects students to focus on their studies and achieve academic excellence so that it would not only benefit future generations but also enhance the country’s prestige.
Vice-chancellor Prof Kh-agendra Bhattarai said the country has great expectations from the graduated students‚ and hoped they will rise to the occasion.
