Post Edufair scheduled to kick off on Friday
After the success of its first education fair last year, the Kantipur Publications is organising the second edition of The Kathmandu Post Career Edufair in the Capital beginning Friday.
The three-day event features a number of academic institutions from home and abroad at the Exhibition Hall in Brikutimandap. Around 130 national and international institutions will exhibit their services and products from 125 stalls and 15 pavilions.
The fair aims at providing visitors with an opportunity to directly interact with the representatives of the universities and colleges and get counselling on furthering studies and careers. It will provide an opportunity for Nepali students to learn about the education system, courses of study, scholarships and the academic environment of the country they want to go to. Representatives from various embassies have been invited to give a first-hand account on visa regulations and academic programmes on offer in their respective countries.
“Fresh graduates often encounter multiple problems while choosing their academic destinations and in making right career choices,” said Akhilesh Upadhyay, editor-in-chief of The Kathmandu Post. “The fair will offer them solutions to these confusions under a single roof.” He said the fair had been institutionalised by the Publications and incorporated in its annual calendar.
According to Mahesh Swar, chief marketing officer at the Publication, the fair is not limited to course counselling but is focused on career counselling as well. Domestic colleges, during the fair, will also take students around their premises apart from regular counselling.
Renowned personalities such as banker Anil Shah, social entrepreneur Anil Chitrakar and entrepreneur Ranjit Acharya will deliver motivational speeches everyday.
There will also be sessions on writing CVs and job applications while popular bands and signers will perform from 1:30 to 2:30pm every day. Swar said there will be arrangements for the collection and exchange of second-hand books free of cost. “We also plan to manage educational tour for 27 students in the UK and the US at our own expense,” he added.
The event is being organised in association with Global Education Counselling Centre. Around 100,000 visitors are expected in the event ending on Sunday.
