Private schools in Chitwan shut down indefinitely
Chitwan:The Nepal Institutional Schools Teachers' Union (Nepal ISTU), Chitwan has called for a closure of all the private schools in Chitwan with effect from Thursday.
The decision to close down the schools was made after the agreement reached with the Private and Boarding Schools Association of Nepal (PABSON) to increase teachers' salary was not implemented, said ISTU Chitwan Chair Bishnu Bahadur Bhujel.
According to Bhujel, an agreement was reached with the involvement of the District Education Office to increase teachers' salary by 18 per cent and provide a dearness allowance of Rs. 1,000 per month.
The closure of more than 150 schools will affect some 8,000 students in Chitwan.
"Unless our demands are met the schools will not open at any cost", warns Bhujel RSS
