PU in dilemma, all activities halted
POKHARA, NOV 03 - The Pokhara University (PU) is in dilemma after the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested the PU office-bearers on the charge of their involvement in corruption.
Information Officer at PU, Lokesh Dhakal, said employees and lecturers are in dilemma in absence of responsible office-bearers of the University.
Different activities of the University including internal examination of the University and constituent campuses and scholarship programme have come to a halt.
The university's budget has not been passed by the University Council as it failed to conduct the annual general meeting so far, which should have been organised in the month of the Nepali month Saun (mid-July to mid-August). So the employees and lecturers have not been able to get their salary for lack of office-bearers.
The employees and lecturers said problematic situation will surface in the University if the government does not take any alternative measures.
The convocation programme of the University, to be held in coming Falgun (mid-February to mid-March), might be postponed if this situation continues, it is learnt.
A total of 25,000 students are studying at the University and four constituent campuses. A total of 58 colleges have taken affiliation from the University.
