Public school popular
BAJURA: The belief that only private schools offer the best is no longer valid as far as Bajura folks are concerned.
Parents have been admitting their kids to the public school in Martadi VDC after the school proved that the quality of education it imparted was on a par with any private school.
Eight-year-old Bhim Nepali of Martadi VDC is a third grader in Malika Higher Secondary School. He studied in Badimalika Boarding School, a private boarding school of the locality till second grade.
There are many like him who have moved to the public school from private boarding schools. What attracted parents to the public school is the newly introduced child-friendly education and adoption of English as the medium of instruction.
“I was worried his performance would drop after leaving the private school, but he has been doing even better, said Bhim’s father.
Likewise, nine-year-old Deepak Bikal, who was studying in Converse Boarding School, was admitted to Malika School this session. He is a fourth grader.
Shuvaraj Padhya, Principal of Malika School, said the number of students has been increasing in the school after they launched English medium classes and improved teaching methods.
