Respite for SLC examinees
SLC examinees dissatisfied with their scores will now be able to have a look at their answer sheets at reduced rates.
The Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) has decreased the charge per subject from Rs 1,000 to Rs 700. The new charge will take effect from the upcoming School Leaving Certificate exams.
Prahlad Aryal, deputy controller at the OCE, said the cut is aimed at protecting the students’ right to information.
“As the government has given the students dissatisfied with their marks the right to see their answer sheets, we also need to ease the process,” he added.
The dissatisfied student should first apply for re-totalling. If dissatisfied with re-totalled marks, the individual should write an application to the OCE to see the answer sheets along with the recommendation letter from the school concerned and a photograph.
A committee comprising OCE deputy controller and subject experts rechecks the answer sheet and provides a copy of it to the student concerned without the cover page of the sheet containing details of the student, including name, roll number and registration number.
Aryal said six students had applied to see their answer sheets last year, but there was no change in their marks.
