Sanskrit univ locked
The Nepali Congress-aligned Democratic Professors’ Association (DPA) today padlocked the central office of Nepal Sanskrit University and the Service Commission (SC) accusing the university of violating past agreement on appointment of the chairperson and member of the Service Commission.
Earlier, the three major political parties had agreed to appoint professors from DPA and UCPN-Maoist-aligned Nepal National Professors’ Organisation (NNPO) to the post of chairperson and the member of the Service Commission, said DPA Vice-chairman Krishna Prasad Gautam.
“The university, however, is planning to appoint professors from NNPO and Progressive Professors’ Organisation aligned to the CPN-UML, thus, breaching the culture of consensus,” he added.
The protesters said they will not unlock the offices until the university appoints officials as per the past agreement.
