School Level Art Competition 2070 held
Altogether, 62 schools of Kathmandu participated with 473 students at the School Level Art Competition-2070 held last Saturday at Classic College, Gaushala.
The competition was organized by SEESa Foundation, a month-old organization dedicated to social services, the members of which are professionals of different fields like business, teachers and engineers, among others.
The children were given three topics to choose from to do their art – ‘Cultural Heritage,’ ‘Jungle Life,’ and ‘Stop Load Shedding.’
Sanjeev Magar of Opal International School, Anunaya Parajuli of Pathshala Nepal Foundation, and Santosh Magar of Jagat Mandir School bagged the first, second and third positions respectively. They received medals and Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively.
Rahul Thakur, Riket Gurung, Sumikala Rai, Nimamfung Idingo, Anish Regmi, Shreemilla Shrestha, and Jyotindra Karki won the consolation prizes.
Anash Gurung, 13, a sixth grader of Kantipur Academy High School shared that he was very happy to have participated in the competition. Since he knew a lot about cultural heritage of Nepal, he chose the same theme for his art and said that painting temples and monuments was an enjoyable activity.

“I’ve been painting since my childhood but this is the first time I participated in an art competition,” he said. “I aspire to become a great painter,” he quipped.
Dhan Bahadur Yakha, academy member of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, and Nabendra Limbu, founder member of Kalaalayaa Art School, were the judges for the competition.
“We judged the paintings on the basis of the children’s skills, innocence, concepts and color composition. All the children were very creative and enthusiastic to do their best,” shared Limbu.
The event also saw various singing and dance performances put on by the students.
During the event, sports materials bought from the proceeds of the competition’s registration fees and sponsors’ donations were handed over to a representative of Shree Mukrapdevi School, Dhading, as gift to the school.
