Schools to open from May 15, says MoE
The government is preparing to run schools from May 15. A secretary level meeting held on Saturday decided to this effect, Hari Lamsal, spokesperson at Ministry of Education told Republica.
According to Khagendra Nepal, director at Department of Education, as many as 727 schools (government and private) have been fully damaged while 1,420 have received partial damages.10,885 classrooms have been fully damaged while 3,113 classrooms have received partial damages, said Director Nepal.
Similarly, eight students and as many as 21 teachers lost their lives in the deadly earthquake.
The Department of Education has devised a plan to resume school activities by arranging Temporary Learning Centers (TLC), according to Nepal.
According to Narayan Koirala, member secretary at Higher Secondary Education Board, the exam of Higher Secondary Schools, wich was supposed to begin from Sunday, will not be conducted until the students and guardians are mentally and psychologically prepared for it.
