Siraha schools borrowing fake students
Siraha: Thirteen-year-old Kishor Paswan is a second grader at Kanya Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Laukaha in India. But do not be surprised if he tells he studies in Bishwaspati Primary School in Siraha.
In fact, his headmaster has asked him and dozens of his friends to give the wrong information.
Paswan revealed this to Republica as he was there in the school waiting for the team from the education office to pay an inspection visit.
“I am a student of Bishwaspati Primary School just for today,” he grinned. “My classmates are also here only for today,” he added.
Similarly, a teacher at Narayan English Boarding School in Siraha also informed that their students have also been borrowed from other schools for three days.
According to the district education office, Siraha not only the primary school, but a number of other community and government schools in the district were found to have borrowed over 60 percent students from other schools to create false student data so that they continue to enjoy facilities provided by the government.
“The school registers are filled with names of non-existent students,” said Mahendra Yadav, a local.
Meanwhile, district education officer Hari Basti admitted that the schools in the district had created false data to enjoy facilities provided by the government. “We are committed to monitoring the schools strictly,” he said.
