SLC examination begins tomorrow
This year’s School Leaving Certificate exminition is beginning across the country on Tuesday. According to the Office of the Controller of Examinations, 528,257 students are taking the test from 1,748 centres.
Of the total, 446,166—229,751 boys and 216,415—are regular examinees, while 82,091 examinees—36,341 boys and 45,750 girls—are exempted. This year, the highest number of students—34,014—appearing for exams from Kathmandu, while only 105 students are taking the test from Manang. Altogether 56,00 personnel, including superintendents, assistant superintendents, invigilators and security personal will be deployed for the nine-day examination. Organising a press meet on Sunday, the OCE said every possible measure had been taken to conduct fair and decent exams. Exam Controller Dilli Ram Rimal said at least 10 security personnel will be deployed in every exam centre, and one invigilator has been arranged for every 25 examinees. Rimal said the Exam Board has decided to adopt tough measures to ensure fair exams. A board meeting chaired by Education Minister Dina Nath Sharma last week decided to lodge public offence cases against people who encourage their wards to adopt unfair means in the exams, while teachers, officials and security personnel involved in such practices will be booked.
