SLC preparations complete
The Office of the Controller of Examinations at Sanothimi has completed preparations for conducting School Leaving Certificate examinations 2070.
“The preparations for SLC exams have been completed and the question papers have also been dispatched to respective districts save in the Kathmandu valley,” Ganesh Dhakal, deputy controller at the OCE, informed yesterday.
The SLC exams of this year will begin on March 20. The number of students appearing in the exams this year has increased by 54,920 as compared to the previous year. A total of 566,085 examinees — 419,352 regular examinees and 146,733 exempted examinees — are appearing in the examinations to be held from 8 am to 11 am.
The OCE has designated 1,836 exam centres. Of which, 88 are in the valley. It has appointed 1,836 superintendents, 22,593 invigilators, 7,530 helpers to conduct the exams with support from 18,360 security personnel. The exams will cover a total of 52 subjects. OCE has already sent out around five million question papers to 72 districts except in the valley.
Dhakal added, “Only those students who have regular attendance of 75 per cent can appear in the examinations.” Last year, some 547,165 examinees had applied but only 511,165 sat for the tests. Of them, 45.17 per cent students passed the exams.
