St. Xavier's annual school fete
Kathmandu: Around 8,000 people participated in the annual Mela which over the years has been seen as ‘the’ event to be seen at in the high school world.
Various games stalls and food stalls kept the students from Xavier’s and other schools along with parents entertained.
Apart from food and game stalls, the fete also had various business stalls from different organization which made the fete not only enjoyable, but also informative.
Ajay Bista, the chairman of the event shared,“We were worried because of the sudden strike that was called in the Valley, but that did not hamper participation as parents and students from different areas attended our event nonetheless.”
The event had a total of 27 games stalls and 16 business stalls with attractive gift hampers which brightened people’s day, and around nine restaurants like Lakhay, Cafereena, Wimpy’s and Hot Breads hosted stalls.
Along with the food stalls, fun activities such as the omega jump, horse riding and dog show kept the children entertained.
As the crowd waited for the announcement of the winner of the grand prizes of Bajaj motorcycle, Sony TV sets, Samsung washing machines and laptops of the raffle ticket prizes, they crowd tested their fate through games of Bingo and vied for attractive cash prizes.
Lady Luck favored Anil Poddar and Lemma Shrestha on the chilly winter afternoon as they won the grand prize of Bajaj 220 bike and a Bajaj bike respectively.
According to the authorities, the funds collected would be used to pay back the loan they had taken to construct a building two years back.
