St Xavier's College celebrates 25th anniversary
Speaking at a function organized to celebrate the 25th anniversary of St Xavier’s College at Maiti Ghar, Vice President Parmanand Jha said that for education in Nepal to progress, teachers at school and higher education level must be dedicated toward their job.
“I’ve noticed that the Father and teachers at St Xavier’s College are very concerned about the future of their students,” he stated, “The dedication of Fathers and teachers toward their job and the students’ hard work has ensured that the college has gained a good reputation at both national and international levels.”
Vice President Jha continued to praise the college’s important contribution to higher education for the past 25 years, and shared his best wishes for the students, teachers and the school administration.
In the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the college felicitated 18 teachers and staff who have been serving for more than 15 years at the college. At the same time, students who have excelled in various faculties and also contributed to the nation were awarded with medals and certificates of appreciation.
Among those felicitated was Miss Nepal 2010 Sadichha Shrestha, currently a final year undergraduate student of Business Studies. Likewise, Eliza Ranjit, the winner of Asian Soft Tennis International Championship, and Sagun Goyal, who had secured the highest marks in her Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Tribhuvan University, were also honored for their achievements.
Citing the college’s 25 years of dedicated role in the field of higher education, Principal Father Augustine Thomas SJ informed that the college has started taking necessary initiatives toward establishing the college as a university.
“Students from all 75 districts of Nepal are studying in our college,” said Father Augustine, “St Xavier’s has been producing human resources who are capable of leading the community and the country as a whole.”
At present, there are about 3,000 students studying in St Xavier’s, from +2 to Postgraduate levels in Science, Management and Humanities streams.
“The college has already produced 10,403 capable human resources till date, and I feel that they’ve been serving the country in various capacities in their respective sectors,” shared Father Augustine.
After being felicitated by the college, Sagun Goyal shared, “What makes the students of St Xavier’s better than others is the student-friendly environment where everyone can learn without any hesitation.”
Similarly, Chemistry Teacher Nirmal Krishna Shrestha, who has been working at the college since the past 25 years, opined that the incredible educational environment is the result of the Fathers’ continuous dedication and concern toward the students and the kind of education they’ve been receiving.
“The contribution it has made to the education sector of Nepal is the specialty of St Xavier’s College,” said Shrestha.
