St Xavier's College steps into Silver jubilee
In 1952, the first St. Xavier's School was established in Godavari, by the Nepal Jesuit Society, in 1954 a school in Jawalakhel was opened and in 1988, St. Xavier's started its evening college with 104 students from Jwalakhel realizing need for higher education. In 1993, the college shifted to its premises in Maitighar.
From 104 students to over 10,000 graduates today, from an evening college to an elaborate college offering five Masters Programs, seven Bachelors programs, Plus two and A-levels, journey of 25 years has seen the college grow but not just in numbers. With a mission dedicated to excellence, leadership and service, the college is a sought after brand name when it comes to quality education at reasonable prices.
As it turns 25-years-old, the college is celebrating its silver jubilee throughout the year with events spread out across its academic calendar. And the celebrations will also be shared with other colleges in the Valley. The events are divided into social, cultural and academic categories.
The silver jubilee will be inaugurated on Thursday by Father Boniface Tigga, SJ, and the Director of Nepal Jesuit Society, which will be followed by a concert by singer Adrian Pradhan. While some events are being planned out, the St. Ignatius Day (July 31), St Xavier's Day (December 3) and a school Mela (January 30, 2014), for the first time by St. Xavier's have been fixed
