Stanford students interact with CG honcho
A group of 30 MBA students from Graduate School of Stanford Business, USA on Monday had an interaction session with Binod Chaudhary, president of Chaudhary Group (CG), at the latter´s office in Sanepa.
Speaking at the program, Chaudhary said rich economic resources and people with a zeal for learning are the key points for economic success of Nepal. “Despite being situated between two powerful countries, Nepal has not been able to reap economic benefits from its positioning,” he said, adding: “I wish we could utilize our god-gifted natural resources to our benefits.”
However, political instability, lack of good governance, inflexible economic policies and unprofessional bureaucracy, among others, have been obstructing economic progress in the country, he added.
The Forbes billionaire was of the opinion that political changes in the country are a must but not at the cost of economic progress. “With 70 percent of economic contribution coming from the private sector, political parties should make policies to help create more job opportunities by in the country making this sector more vibrant, he added.
Nirvana Chaudhary, managing director of CG, appreciated the students´ effort to visit Nepal to get first-hand knowledge of how the country is struggling for economic progress.The students are on a nine-day ´Social Innovation Study Trip to Nepal´ to explore how the government, business, and civil leaders of the country think about and pursue growth and how their efforts play out in reality.
