Student feud hits BSc exam
Hetauda: A university level exam was postponed after students padlocked the exam centre following a dispute between two student unions.
The BSc Third Year exam, scheduled to be held at the Institute of Forestry, Hetauda, was called off after Nepali Congress-aligned Nepal Student Union (NSU) members shut the campus down protesting the alleged attack on NSU members by UML-affiliated All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) yesterday night.
“The college was shut down after the administration failed to take action against the assailants,” said Devi Prasad Poudel, deputy chairman of NSU at the institute. Mahendra Raut, chairman of Nepal Student Union, Makwanpur, informed that the union has been holding talks with the campus administration but to no avail. Meanwhile, Damodar Pandey of ANNFSU dismissed the incident as mere publicity stunt on the part of NSU.
The campus administration confirmed that the college was shut due to hindrance by NSU students. The dispute is likely to affect other examinations as well.
