Students entitled to see their SLC answer sheets
Kathmandu: It has been a landmark decision on the right to information regime of Nepal to allow the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) students to see their answer sheets.
The Office of Examination Control is bringing this provision to effect after the National Information Commission, a body to protect and promote people’s constitutionally guaranteed access to information, has issued directives to the Office to allow interested students to see their answer sheets.
The Office has prepared and submitted work procedures by making the policy and regulations compatible for this, informed Examination Controller Surya Prasad Gautam.
He further said once the Ministry approves the work procedures students will be permitted to see their answer sheets.
A student had filed application at the NIC to attain his right to information to see the answer sheet of the SLC examination-2067 BS when he was denied of his access to information.
Thought he NIC issued directives to the public agency concerned to respect student’s right to information acting on the application of the student, the work procedure prepared by the Office has not yet allowed the students to see the answer sheets in an easy and accessible manner.
