Ilam: Increasing numbers of students of the district are visiting other parts owing to the substandard education at the district.

Deepika Tamang is persuing his commerce degree at the Government College located at Darjeeling in India. She studied at a school located at Pashupatinagar till class five and then went to Darjeeling for her higher studies.

Tamang said that she was thinking to work in a bank at Darjeeling.Mahesh Thakur is studying at Swami Radha Krishna Education Council and dreams of working at the technical sector.

Tamang and Thakur are just few examples as there are numerous students who travel towards other part with a hope of getting better education.

Earlier, most of the guardians were forced to send their children to the adjoining areas due to the armed conflict.

Milan Bhadari, a local Jogmai Village Development Committee said "The education sector of the country is not professional. Regular strikes have crippled and created a menace for the students."

Sonam Cheki Sherpa, a tenth grader is studying at Rangbang High School. Sherpa studied at her village till grade five.

Sherpa said that she preferred studying in Darjeeling owing to its educational standard and free from protests.

She including Nisha Mukhiya, Ishu Mukhiya, Sonu Gurung including 20 student’s from Pashupatinagar walk two hours a day and reach Darjeeling for regular classes.

Students from Pashupatinagar, Gorkhey, Jogmai, Jamuna, Mabu, Maimjhuwa and dozens of adjoining Village Development Committee are leaving their schools are currently studying at Darjeeling, Mirik, Karsang, Sikkim, Kalingpong of India.
