Students issue ultimatum to govt
Bhimdattanagar: The students of the Kanchanpur district have issued a three day ultimatum to the government that they would shut down the schools and colleges. The students have been irked by the failure of the government in making budget allocation to the universities of the Far Western university.
On Tuesday, the irate students submitted the memorandum to the Prime Minister through the District Administration offices.
They warned that if the government failed to address their demands within three days, they would launch a strong protest.
Padam Joshi, a member of the All Nepal National Independent Students Union- Revolutionary (ANNISUR) informed that the government cheated them earlier and this year by not allocating the budget.
Residents of the Far Western have also condemned the government for failing to provide budget for the university.
In Inaruwa, the school children of Sunsari district have urged the political parties not to paint the walls of their schools with the political slogans and not to impose closure of schools under any pretext.
The children made such appeal after the political parties overlooked the commitment they made while declaring the schools as Zone of Peace (ZoP).
The students and the local guardians of the Saraswoti Secondary School urged the concern bodies not to use the schools as the political playground.
The students also lamented the carelessness of the political parties in jeopardizing the academic atmosphere at the schools.
Speaking at an interaction, Yedu Nandan Yadav, Bibiya, in-charge of UCPN (Maoist), informed that his parties would not write any political slogan and would avoid the closure of the schools in future.
Ram Rup Sharma, a student, said political parties must write the child friendly slogans. Students also suggested the parties to make the declaration of schools as Zone of Peace a success through their deeds, encourage the children to attend the schools, make school free from all types of closures, and not to discriminate the children on the basis of their language and sex, and others.
