Students lock up CTEVT office
DIPAYAL: Students of Seti Technical Academy in Dipayal today padlocked the administration office of the institute for an indefinite period citing insufficient resources.
Classes as well as administrative work at the institute have been halted following the lockout. The agitating students said the closure would continue until their demands were met.
Samir Bista, a student, complained, “The academy doesn’t even have a laboratory, furniture and other essential educational materials.”
Around 400 students are studying the three-year overseer, ISc (Ag), ANM, Agriculture and Veterinary JTA courses at present. A total of 80 seats for overseer, including 40 seats extended this year, and ISc (Ag) which was introduced last year, are available.
The agitating students complained that though the academy charged them on different pretexts, it lacked proper resources required for effective learning.
Meanwhile, Sushil Kumar Shrestha, principal of the academy, said they had reached understanding on addressing the 32-point demand of students, yesterday, but the students still went ahead and padlocked the office. “We are ready to fulfil the demands,” said Shrestha. But the students said they had to resort to padlocking as the administration hadn’t heeded their demands.
