Students, schools awarded on Education Day
Kathmandu: Various schools and students have been awarded for their outstanding performances in the year 2010 on the National Education and International Literacy Day on Thursday.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Thursday conferred Nepal Bidhya Bhusan Award and Nepal Chhatra Bidhya Award on 254 students for their outstanding performances at different levels, at a function organised in the President’s Office.
On the occasion, 114, 82 and 16 students were awarded Nepal Bidhya Bhusan ‘A’, Nepal Bidhya Bhusan ‘B’ and Nepal Bidhya Bhusan ‘C’ awards, respectively. Similarly, 25 students from the bachelor’s level and 17 students from the proficiency certificate level were honoured with Nepal Chhatra Bidhya Award.
Addressing the programme, President Dr Yadav urged all the graduates to utilise their knowledge and skills achieved during their pursuit of higher education for nation building. “The brain drain has emerged as a serious problem and I urge everyone for the utilisation of their skills, knowledge, capacity and creativity for the betterment of the nation,” said the president.
Similarly, the Ministry of Education has decided to award different schools for their excellent performances in 2010.
Balambu Secondary School, Kathmandu and Graded English Medium School (Gems), Lalitpur bagged the national level first prizes among the public and private schools, respectively.
Similarly, Shree Secondary School of Katahare, Udayapur; Tarun Secondary School of Balaju, Kathmandu; Satyawati Higher Secondary School of Damauli, Tanahun; Shanti Secondary School of Ratimata, Kalikot and Chandrodaya Secondary School of Bhangsain, Bajhang were awarded for their outstanding performances from the respective development regions. Balkalyan Bidhyamandir Secondary School of Biratnagar, Excelsior Secondary Boarding School of Swoyambhu, New Horizon English Boarding School of Butwal, Jana Jyoti Bidhyamandir Secondary School of Ghorahi and Stepping Stone English Boarding School of Dhangadi were awarded among the private schools in the regional level.
Janata Secondary School of Rupsa, Kalikot was awarded best school prize among schools from the remote areas.
